The Salt Road Houghton was a brand-new restaurant opening inside an existing boutique hotel in Johannesburg. The ambition was clear: introduce a Cape Winelands dining concept to a new market and transform a previously generic hotel restaurant into a destination, without any existing audience or momentum.
Rather than rely on in-house marketing, the team partnered with Boring Co. to lead the launch and growth strategy from the ground up. Our role was to shape how the brand would be experienced before the first guest arrived, setting the tone, the story, and the expectation.
We stepped in as the creative and growth partner, leading launch strategy, content direction, and distribution. The focus was on communicating atmosphere and occasion, not just food, building anticipation through visual storytelling, social presence, influencer activations, and PR. Everything was designed to carry momentum beyond opening night and sustain demand long after launch.
